God Wants You to Prosper
By Apostle Frederick K.C. Price

Prosperity comes in many different forms. There is social prosperity and mental prosperity, and there is professional prosperity, when God blesses the work you are doing on your job. Once you marry, you can also experience marital prosperity.  There is parental prosperity in terms of raising your children, and physical prosperity in terms of your health. No Christian has a problem with any of these ways through which God can prosper us. No minister, theologian, or church denomination will tell you that any of these areas of prosperity are bad, or of the devil.

When it comes to financial and material prosperity, however, that is an entirely different ballgame. When you begin to talk about those two forms of prosperity, you become a target. All the worms come out of the woodwork, and you might even have some people talk about you. But I know the true reason these attacks come.  Satan knows that if he can keep Christians poor, he can hinder the proclamation of the gospel. And he has done a good job of keeping Christians poor up to the present time.

It costs money to proclaim the gospel. It costs money to build or rent a church building, to provide a pastor for a congregation, to equip a church sanctuary.  Christians need an environment in which they can hear the Word, fellowship with one another, and grow in the knowledge of God.

It costs money to send missionaries to a place where no one has ever gone before with the gospel.  Also, in many of the places where these missionaries go, there is not enough financial sustenance to take care of them.  Therefore, their home base or home church has to take care of them.  That costs money.  Who else is going to pay for the spreading of gospel but the children of God?  Our outreach ministries are going to be based upon our financial ability to support and send those who have the call on their lives to go.

Satan knows that if he can keep us poor, keep us barely making it, keep us struggling to provide for our own individual households, then we will have limited resources to give to the Church. By our poverty, he can prevent us from sending out those who need to carry the message of Jesus Christ to others.  It’s a conspiracy!  A person cannot give what he or she does not have, especially when the person does not know how to get it.

The world’s system is not designed to aid your financial independence – not when you are a child of God.  It will allow a few of Satan’s kids to get wealth, so that others will think they are going to become wealthy too, but the enemy certainly does not want the Church to become financially prosperous.  That is why he has so cleverly infiltrated theology.  The very people who should be supporting one another are attacking one another.  We have enough opposition coming from Satan, so we don’t need any coming from our brothers and sisters in Christ.  When a minister or another Christian starts talking about money, non-Christians and Christians alike get on the person’s case. They automatically think the minister is a crook or charlatan.

Granted, there may be some charlatans in the pulpit, but there are crooks everywhere.  They are found in government, but what can we say about that? Can we stop the government from operating? There are crooked doctors, crooked lawyers, crooked wives, crooked husbands, crooked children, and crooked parents.  There are crooks everywhere, not just in the pulpit.

I can handle what the world says, but it becomes a bitter pill to swallow when your Christian brethren criticize you for talking about prosperity.  Nevertheless, we have to talk about money.  This is especially true if you have a television ministry.  It costs the same amounts of money to be in Christian media as it does to be in secular media.  However, it would take me years to go around the world and physically teach the Word to as many people as I can reach in one hour via television.  Television is the least expensive way to reach the greatest number of people in the shortest length of time, although it costs megabucks to do so.

The bottom line is, no matter what medium a person uses, spreading the gospel quickly boils down to dollars and cents.  Therefore, if anyone ought to be sympathetic to the idea of material and financial prosperity, it ought to be Christians.  We need to know how to operate in God’s financial plan.  As we prosper financially, God prospers in terms of our relationship to Him.  If we are poor, God is poor by our poverty.

Economically and financially, our world is getting worse.  Yet all the resources we need are available.  Some folk are getting it and squandering it on the things that bring glory to Satan.  Christians need to learn how to prosper, so that the Church can bring glory to God.

God wants you to prosper.  Until you are convinced of this, you will never prosper. When you realize that Jesus and His disciples were not poor, but rather had wealth, you will begin to understand that you don’t need to be poor to serve Him.

Joshua 1:8
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it.  For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

You can see it in the Word: God wants you prosper.  And, the people He was speaking to were sinners.  This is Old Testament, so they were not even His children; they were His servants.  If God wanted His servants to prosper, you must know He wants His children to prosper.

There was a time when I did not think God liked me too well because I am Black.  It looked like all the Black folk I knew did not have very much.  I thought that God just arbitrarily decided that He was going to prosper a particular man or woman, and put another man or woman on welfare.  When I discovered what the Word of God says in scriptures like Joshua 1:8, I got happy.  I found out at last that it was up to me whether I prospered, and that it had nothing to do with the color of my skin.

It was up to me to meditate on His Word day and night.  It was my responsibility to never let that Word depart from my mouth, and to observe to do it.  After I did that, He said I would make my way prosperous.  When I discovered what God said in Joshua 1:8, I decided that I was going to be prosperous. I was going all the way.  If you are willing to do it God’s way, you can prosper.  It’s your fault if you do, and your fault if you don’t.
The last part of Joshua 1:8 states, “and then you will have good success.”  This implies that there can be bad success.  An example of bad success would be when you have $12 million in the bank and you are driving a Rolls-Royce, but your wife is making out with the gardener, the cat rapes the canary, and your kids are on drugs.  You are up all night worrying about who is stealing from you.  You cannot eat because your stomach is ulcerated, plus you have palpitations of the heart and high blood pressure.

Good success would be having $12 million in the bank, driving a Rolls-Royce, being surrounded by a loving family, enjoying a relationship with Jesus Christ, and being filled with the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 1:1-3:
  1. Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
  2. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.
  3. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leave also shall not wither: and whatever he does shall prosper.

Whatever he does shall prosper!  This means that you should prosper in your marriage.  You should prosper in raising your children.  You should prosper in your sex life, in your professional life, in your business, in your ministry, and in your friendships.  Whatever you do should prosper.

If God wanted His people poor, there should be plenty of evidence of that in the Bible.  But, I see just the opposite.  The overwhelming evidence through the scriptures is that God wants His people to be prosperous in every way – including financially.

Psalm 35:27
Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause; and let them say continually, “Let the Lord be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.”

If God gets pleasure in our prosperity, He must have displeasure in our poverty.  If that is true, then God is against poverty.

The Bible tells us, “by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established” (2 Corinthians 13:1).  I have already given you three scriptures, so I have met the biblical requirement to prove to you that God wants you to prosper in every single area of your life.  Now it is up to you to do something about it.  The ball is in your court
The covers have been pulled off Satan’s conspiracy to keep you poor. It is your obligation not to play into his game plan any more.

For more information on God’s way to prosperity see Apostle Price’s book, “Prosperity: Good News For God’s People.”

Apostle Price I pray for you constantly I did not realize how difficult your job was until I started dealing with other christians on a regular basis. As a new member of CCC I find myself constantly defending you and the church, with scripture, from individuals who try to pervert your teachings to fit the twisted thoughts in their own minds. I watched you on television long before I became a member and I found your teachings to be clear and concise. How anyone, especially other christians, could think that you were just bragging escapes me. I truly understand now how my conduct as a member not only effects my life but it also effects others and how they view our church. I am proud to be a member of CCC and of the AFPMTC and I am thankful that you and your family have dedicated your lives to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I currently do not work outside of the home, I care for my 90 year old father, and I do not receive a salary for this work of love but I do pay tithes on everything that I am blessed with. I pray for your ability to continue the good work and know that I will continue to support your efforts in every way that I can.

This is my first time reading the eif newsletter and this particular article was a timely blessing to me. As a pastor i can appreciate the message of prosperity, but i can also see how someone can see this beautiful message as pure materialism, as a pastor i have a vision from God and have learned that as i pursue the vision my provision is in the vision, i feel that sometimes Christian can hear the message of property and seek the provision and not the vision i like to say it this way faith is simply walking and talking towards your vision, because faith is the substance of things hope for. Where there is no hope (vision) there is no need for faith, and where there is on faith there is no prosperity from God.

Apostle Price, I hear what you are saying and I know that the word works, just by listening to your messages and seeing how great the power of God is operating through you. I know that God has a plan for me also to do great things and bless and help the needy, poor, christian facilities and organizations as I prosper. I make a good effort to tithe and stand on God's word for prosperity, however it's been about 7 or 8 months without any substantial gain. In some cases it feels like the situation is getting worse and I am in a rut. My bills always seem to exceed what I make in a month and sometimes, I have nothing left to tithe with, however, I always dig deep and make it up. So basically what I am saying is I know that satan is trying to keep me down, busy, and frustrated. I know god is greater, but the continued stress and no increase is taking a toll on me. Please agree with me for a peace, increase and a breakthrough. Thanks and any comments or words of knowledge would be appreciated.

How wonderful that this has been sent in the newsletter this week. I've been struggling with why my son and myself have yet to see the prosperity promised in God's word. We've tithe, given offering, sowed into the lives of others, given in the area we wanted to receive, changed our confession to positive, spoken well of others, all the thing our Apostle has taught us for the pass eight years he's been coming to CCC West. Yet our monitary situation hasn't improved.

We spoke with Pastor Terry a month before he left and he advised us to just continue and patience is being worked into us. We did as we were told.

On today I woke up feeling sick although I didn't confess it out loud. I hadn't had enough to eat for the pass couple of days, and a friend from another church was asking me to fast with him for some people he knew. I'd consented some time ago to do this on Wednesday's. I wanted to keep my word, so I did, dispite how I felt physically. I prayed in the spirit for strenght and reminded God of Malachi 3:10 Bring all .... you know how it goes. I reminded Him of his word and told Him I needed strenght for the journey and I need the breakthrough I've been promised. My son is watching and asking questions and wants to know if Christianity really works? He's doing his part but doesn't understand why it's taking so long. It's been eight years since we've been enlighten about the word Before we followed tradition.

I began to talk to Him in my heavenly language and suddenly I felt better, and I had a vision when I dosed off as I was reading Malachi; I saw the thing I needed. Lots and lots of food in my refrigerator. Meats of all kinds, some of which I didn't know how to make!

Suddenly I had a clear understanding that God heard me too. Not just that He heard me, but that everytime I talk to Him, Holy Spirit is just under my breath, digesting every thought, word and action. It was eye opening. It changed everything!

Suddenly I felt strong, as though I'd eaten! Previously the day before I'd purchased chicken from my local supermarket, and when I went to cook it, it smelled bad. I didn't have time to return it, because I had to go to work that morning. That evening I went to return it, and the proper management who had the authority to do it, wasn't there. I told myself the next morning I'll try again. After reading Malachi, I felt the strenght to do it.

They not only gave me fresh produce, they added in a small package of chicken wings without charge. That was God showing up. It's small, but it's major.

What I've learned in this article is to meditate on God's word, do as Joushua told us to do, day and night, and now that I know He's so very very near with each movement, it'll be easy because I know He sees me. I've been saved for many years, but knowing He's that close makes me feel like I've stepped into a different realm.

"First the spiritual than the natural" Pastor T would say, I've got the spiritual, now I'm waiting for the natural to kick in.

Today my son and myself ate well. I baked and fried chicken, made seasoned rice, broccoli and oatmeal cookies, served with ice water. We celebrated our brake through! This article is a perfect follow up for information on what I needed to do, infact, I've said, I wish I could tell Aposlte Price what we're experiencing, perhaps he could explain to me where I'm missing it? But the article has done it, I just need to not let go, hold on, continue by keeping the "faith switch on" as he says, and be determine not to accept less.

I know insight will come, better work, with better wages, witty inventions, pressed down and running over will men give into my bossome, it's got to, because I'm doing my part. I truly want to be a witness for Him, without the help of the government's food stamps and the likes. I don't want to embarrass Him, if the world can make it without food stamps, why can't I who's a faithful Christian? My Father has it, and He's allocated it to me, I've just got to meditate day and night until it manifest.

Thank you for preaching the real word of God. It's made a difference in our lives.

"If God gets pleasure in our prosperity, He must have displeasure in our poverty. If that is true, then God is against poverty".

This is the line in Apostle's article that made me wake up at 7:30am, after going to bed at 4am this morning. This is the line that's breaking off the confusion I've been faced with. Why I haven't been able to prosper? The thought of displeasing God displeases me. Anything I'm doing I can, if I think God isn't pleased with me about.

The thought that He isn't pleased with the poverty that my son and I have experienced since we've been at CCC east gave me to know, something's wrong. I never thought not having displeased Him, I just didn't understand how to turn it around.

I asked Holy Spirit after reading the article, "Why am I experiencing poverity, or why did I accept it for so long?" And the answer came back to me, "Because I was afraid of prospering".

Holy Spirit's right! When I think about my behavior, He's right. All my life, I'd go up, then come down, go up, then come down. I'd go up because I had the ability to prosper and wanted to, but I'd come down because I felt I was displeasing God by doing so. Why?

Because I believed the lie, that I couldn't have because I meant right in my heart. It was stupid, even ignorant, and a misundestandings of the Word of God, passed down from the mouths of people I trusted with my spiritual development.

It layed dormit in me until I challenged it with getting ahead, then I'd feel guilty, and I'd allow that guilt to pull me back down to not having.

Why the guilt? Because secretly I felt it was wrong to have. But when I began to feel terrible because I was fasting as I explained in a previous entry I did earlier this morning, I knew something was wrong. I know Christians aren't suppose to be sick and here I was boardering on sickness. So I questioned God, and He turned the light on me, by pointing out how Michael the arch angel came to Daniel to answer his question but it took 21 days. That told me Daniel had to remain committed to his request until the answer came.

If he had to remain committed, then I had too also. Don't give up on the question Wanda, wait for the answer, the understanding, the breakthrough, whatever it was I was waiting for, I got it in having this scripture open up to me Joshua 1:8 flipped over.

So if God isn't happy with me not prospering, I'm getting out now! I'm going to learn to "Expect" better, because better is what He wants for me.

I can see where everything about me is going to change, because my root has been exposed to light and I recieve it.

Thank you again.

That's the first time I've ever experienced that.

Now that I'm informed, I'll have to challenge being hungry forever more. This is just plain-ol-eye opening! And I don't ever want to let this scripture go.

Thank you!

I enjoyed the reading that God wants me to prosper. I never thought about all the areas where I can and will prosper. As a public servant for the government, I particularly thought it was refreshing to be reminded that in Psalm 35:27 God get pleasure when his servant prospers. I am servant in all aspects of my life. I thank God for his word to stay alive in my life. It is my duty and responsiblility to prosper to establish his covenant on this earth to bring the gospel. Some one witness to me and I am sure money was spent even if was the gas to meet me or pamphlet given. Thanks for your message Pastor Price. San Leandro, Ca
